What is Internet ?

Internet is a World Wide interconnected system of millions of computers and computer networks across the globe, which can exchange and accessed information electronically.

Internet is a set of computers communicating over fiber optics, phone lines, satellite links and other media.

It is a collection of hundreds of libraries and vast store of information relating to our hobbies, travel, health, entertainment, games, financial data, software and much more.

As the Internet is built on a collection of networks covering the world and these networks contain many different types of computers. To hold the whole thing together we used Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Protocols are the rules that all networks use to understand each other.

What is TCP/ IP ?

TCP/ IP is a large family of protocols used to organize computers and communication devices into a network. IP transmits the data from place to place, and TCP makes sure it all works correctly.

Information within the Internet is not transmitted as a constant stream from host to host, rather data is broken into small packages called segments. TCP divide the data or information into number of segments.

How Internet Works ?

The primary objective of any network is to exchange the information between different locations. The rules for this exchange are called Protocols. TCP/ IP is the protocol on Internet, which is actually a name for a set of many rules framed to connect computers in a wide area network, which is established between computers across the cities, countries and worldwide.
