In today’s world, internet and social media growing rapidly and as a result almost everyone connected with Internet and have atleast one mobile phone, computer or tablet.

It is not a matter a person is living in a small village or in a prominent place of any city, almost everywhere all are connected with internet and digital devices.

Internet and new technologies are changing our power of imagination, innovation, business and ways of thinking.

We all are aware that commerce is based on the concept of customer visit to bricks-and mortar establishment to conduct business transactions. Where consumers physically search their required product shop to shop and placed their orders manually, paid for that particular product, received/ get the products from shop keeper/ seller and taken the product with them.

Ecommerce is just like a normal RETAIL SHOP, which have some extra facility and features where a person / business men sells something to a consumer who wanted to buy.

Definition of E-Commerce

E-commerce or Electronic Commerce is a system of modern business refers to a wide range of online business activities for products and services.

E-commerce pertains to any form of business transaction in which the parties interact electronically rather than physical exchanges or direct physical contact.

Ecommerce, M-commerce and electronic commerce is usually associated with buying and selling over the Internet or conducting any transaction involving the transfer of goods or services through online or over the internet.

E-Commerce is the use of electronic communication and digital information processing technology in business transactions  to create and transform value between individual and organizations.

Difference between retail shop and Ecommerce ?  

In retail shop, consumers were considered to be trapped by geographical and social boundaries and also unable to search wide range of product for the best quality and price.

In Ecommerce, customer don’t  need to visit physically to any shop/mall to buy anything. Customer can purchase anything online like clothing, groceries, electronic items, books, fresh foods, airline tickets, rail tickets, stocks etc from anywhere with the help of internet and get their product easily where he wants.

Types of E-commerce or Electronic commerce business models

It operates mainly four types of models:

Business to Business (B2B)

In B2B model, the buyers and sellers are both business entities. A manufacturer supplying his goods through his website to the retailer or wholesaler and after receiving the consignment, retailer or wholesaler sells the product to the final customer. Or simple word, a business sells his good or service to another business.

Business to Consumer (B2C)

In B2C model, the online retailers and marketers sell their products to the consumer online via various online marketing tools.  

Consumer to Consumer (C2C)

In C2C model, facilitates the online transaction of goods or services between two peoples. This is a type of website like OLX which helps consumers/ customers to sell assets of individual by publishing their information on the website. This model consists of a person to person transaction that completely excludes business from the equation.  

Consumer to Business (C2B)

A consumer sells their own products or services to a business or organization.

There are number of popular E-Commerce website available in the World. Some prominent are Amazon.com, Alibaba.com, Flipkart.com, shopify.com, OLX, eBay.com etc.
