To learn about WordPress, first step to download and install WordPress on your hosting account. Go to Google Browser and type WordPress.org, then Click to Get WordPress, from where download the latest version of WordPress in your hosting account or local server in your PC.
After download the wordpress, extract the folder and you will get following files.
WordPress comes with three directories by default i.e. 1) wp-admin, 2) wp-content and 3) wp-includes.
The wp-content directory holds all of your custom files including themes, plugins, media and much more. The wp-admin and wp-includes directories holds WordPress core files.
The WordPress core files are primarily PHP files, but also contain CSS, JavaScript, XML, HTML and image files. The files control everything including how content pages are generated to display, loading the configured theme and plugins, loading all options and settings, and much more.
WordPress also have two most important files i.e. 1) wp-config.php and 2) .htaccess file. The wp-config.php file stores all database connection settings, including the database name, username, password to access your database, also stores security and other advanced settings.

The .htaccess file is used primarily for creating pretty permalinks, keyword injected URls for your website. This file is also used to control PHP configuration options to increase the memory limit, maximum file size limit allotted in PHP.

A theme is an overall look, style, layout and design of any website. Everything we see with our eye’s in a website is just because of a theme installed on that website.
